The Tiva Pembejeo Benefit is a valuable add-on plan within the Tiva-Farmers Health Scheme in Tanzania. It provides credit to farmers, allowing them to acquire high-quality seeds, fertilizers, and other essential inputs necessary for their agricultural activities. As a result, their yields and income are increased. Furthermore, access to credit empowers farmers to diversify their crops and engage in more profitable activities, contributing to their overall prosperity. To qualify for a loan to purchase agricultural inputs, farmers must meet certain criteria. They need to be subscribed to the Tiva-Farmers Health Scheme's core plan and have deposited a minimum of 30% of the intended loan within three months of the purchase. This requirement is fulfilled through regular deposits of at least $2 per day towards the loan. This plan helps farmers to overcome limited access to agricultural inputs, ultimately leading to increased yields and income and improved livelihoods. 

·        Under the Tiva Pembejeo Benefit, Farmers can access interest-free credit up to five times the premium value of their Tiva Farmers Health Scheme by depositing 30% of the intended loan within 3 months of purchasing the core plan and continuing to make regular deposits towards the loan.

·        After obtaining the loan, the beneficiary is not eligible to purchase or deposit for any other Tiva credit line package until the previous line of credit is fully paid.

·        It is important to note that the Tiva Pembejeo Benefit is only one of the features offered by the Tiva-Farmers Health Scheme, which provides comprehensive healthcare coverage to Tanzania farmers and their families. In addition to the benefits provided by this add-on feature, subscribers can also take advantage of other benefits, such as access to a nationwide network of hospitals and healthcare providers, outpatient and inpatient care, education and training programs, and a telemedicine platform.

When and how to pay back the loan.

To pay back the Tiva Pembejeo Benefit loan, the beneficiary may have two options:

1. The beneficiary has two options to pay back the Tiva Pembejeo Benefit loan:

a)     Commit to a daily deposit of $3 USD or more, along with service charges and insurance loan coverage fees, depending on the loan taken.

b)     Agree to a lumpsum loan recovery through the sale of agricultural crops via their local Agricultural Marketing Co-operative Societies (AMCOS), if the farmer grows commercial crops.

2.     If option (a), Tiva credit holders have a grace period of 60 days before they start paying back the loan.

i.       After the 60-day grace period, the Tiva Pembejeo Benefit payback is $3 per day plus loan service charges (1%), transaction charge (Tsh.1), insurance loan coverage (Tsh. 250/$0.1), VAT (18%), and partner bank loan interest (12%).

ii.     Tiva will automatically deduct the $3 plus charges from your Mpesa, Tigo pesa, Tiva Insurance credit, or bank account.

iii.   Deductions will automatically be charged every day at 00.00 AM (East Africa time zone).

iv.   Loan Defaults: Every borrower has a grace period of 15 times during the loan time. Every time you fail to pay back your deposit, the previous skipped day will be charged the next day plus the day's contribution. Every skipped payment consumes one grace time. After grace times finish, every skipped payment will cost additional fines of 3%. If there are 30 days of non-payments, and no credible source of information knowing reasons behind non-payments, such as sickness or accidents reported to Tiva local loan office, Tiva will start enforcement based on the contract with your organization.

3.     For option (b), repayment of the Tiva Pembejeo Benefit loan with all associated charges and interests will be made through the sale of agricultural crops via the farmer subscriber's local Agricultural Marketing Co-operative Societies (AMCOS). There will be a separate agreement outlining the terms of repayment, and involvement of the local AMCOS is necessary prior to providing the loan to the farmer subscriber.

·        Only Tiva-Farmers Health Scheme policyholders aged 18 to 60 years old are eligible to purchase the Tiva Pembejeo Benefit or any other add-on plans offered by the Tiva Farmers Health Scheme.

•  
• Tiva Pembejeo Benefit can only be purchased as an Add-On to Tiva-Farmers Health Scheme. 

·        The farmer subscriber must have deposited at least 30% of the intended loan within 3 months of purchasing the Tiva-Farmers Health Scheme's core plan and must continue to make regular deposits towards the loan.

·       Non-policyholders of the Tiva-Farmers Health Scheme cannot purchase any of the Tiva-Farmers add-on plans, including the Tiva Pembejeo Benefit. This means that only farmers who are subscribed to the Tiva-Farmers Health Scheme can benefit from the Tiva Pembejeo Benefit

·       This plan has a waiting period of 90 days, starting from the date of purchase, before subscribers can begin to receive its benefits. Only farmers are eligible to purchase this plan, and non-farmer subscribers cannot purchase it.

Tiva health schemes prohibit fraud, false information, sharing benefits with unauthorized people, not following treatment plans, risky behaviors, unauthorized providers, false claims, and violating ethics policy. Users including farmers must follow these to avoid losing coverage or legal issues.

Once you send the health insurance, the beneficiary will be notified of the insurance plan via their phone or email within seconds.

·        To check your insurance account balance, type *121# if you are using Vodacom TZ, Airtel TZ, Tigo TZ, or Halotel TZ.

·        To activate the and subscribe to Bembejeo -  Basic plan  ($2/day type *120*52*1#.

Note: Multi Beneficiaries

·        If the principal beneficiary wants to cover two people, they can type *120*2#, or *120*3# to cover three people, or *120*5# to cover five people. It's that simple."

-        Again, the last number represents the number of people who will be covered in the insurance package. This service operates with Vodacom TZ, Airtel TZ, Tigo TZ, and Halotel TZ.

·        To activate the insurance package for multiple users, the beneficiary must have enough health insurance credit balance to cover the activation of those packages. For example, the Tiva Afya Yangu package costs $55 per person. To activate coverage for two people in the package, you need a balance of at least $99. For three people, you need $148.5 credits, and so on.

Note:

·        Even if the coverage you purchased is for multiple people (all need is a total amount of insurance credit to activate the insurance package they want). The principal can transfer the insurance credit to any dependents, family members, or friend's phone number, or register all dependents under one package.

•  Beneficiaries Identification

After activating your health insurance as the policyholder, you and your dependents have multiple options for registration. The quickest and most convenient way is to register through your Tiva Health account on https://Tiva.co.tz or using the Tiva Health Tanzania App. The process involves scanning your ID, taking a photo, and submitting your fingerprints (if using the App). Alternatively, you can visit any hospital or pharmacy within our network or any Tiva shop in your neighborhood where the "Tiva is Available Here" banner is displayed to obtain your insurance ID card. Each beneficiary (if multiple) can also collect their Tiva Health ID card from any Tiva shop, pharmacy, or hospital at their convenience.

Note:

In order for you and each of your dependents to get registered, the following are needed:

•        National Identification Authority Card (NIDA CARD) or a passport or any other government-issued identification.

•        Insurance account number and secret dependent code (for both principal and dependents), which were provided to you upon activation of your health insurance package.

No mobile Money Registration is required:
Your dependents do not need a registered Mobile Money number to receive the insurance or activate – just any mobile registered number is enough.

·       The number your beneficiary receives insurance at is the primary number.

·       Before activating the insurance package, the principal policyholder has the option to transfer the insurance credit to another mobile number or family member. However, once the package is activated under a specific number, it cannot be transferred or changed to another package.
