Tiva Afya Family 3 is an upgraded scheme for Tiva Afya Yangu Health Scheme (Personal) meant to cater to the healthcare needs of low- and mid-income young families with a child or any other dependent. This demographic is often excluded from traditional health insurance schemes due to their inability to afford premiums. The scheme aims to provide affordable and accessible healthcare services to this underserved population, thus improving their health outcomes while reducing the burden of healthcare costs.

Like all Tiva Afya Yangu plans, Tiva Afya Family 3 scheme offers comprehensive coverage of basic healthcare services, including outpatient and inpatient care. The family can access consultations with doctors and other healthcare professionals, diagnosis and treatment of common illnesses and injuries, prescription of medicines, and basic diagnostic tests and surgical services.

The Tiva Afya Family 3 scheme is both affordable and accessible. With an initial startup payment as low as $1, subscribers can top up their Tiva Afya Family 3 account daily and complete their payment of $148.5 to begin enjoying the scheme's benefits. This low initiation fee makes it easy for individuals to get started.

For Family pool of 3 

This plan is specifically designed to cater to the healthcare needs of families with one child or dependent offering comprehensive coverage for the entire family. It encompasses a wide range of healthcare services, including consultations with doctors, prescription fulfillment, and major medical procedures. The plan is priced at $55 per year for an individual, with the option to add additional family members. If all beneficiaries are activated together, they are eligible for a discount, reducing the cost to $49.5 per person. Consequently, a couple can take advantage of this offer and obtain coverage for a total of $148.5. It provides comprehensive healthcare coverage for individuals aged 0 to 60, and the coverage remains in effect for a period of 12 months.

Inpatient services are typically provided to patients who require hospitalization for more serious medical conditions. TIVA AFYA FAMILY 3 SCHEME covers several basic inpatient services, including:

 

·       Hospital room and board: This includes the cost of a hospital bed and nursing care.

·       Medical procedures and treatments: This may include surgeries, anesthesia, diagnostic tests, and imaging tests such as CT scans and MRI.

·       Medications: Inpatient services usually cover the cost of prescription drugs and other medications required during the hospital stay.

·       Rehabilitation services: This includes physiotherapy and other forms of rehabilitation to help patients recover from injuries or illnesses.

·       Intensive care: Patients who require critical care may be admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) where they receive close monitoring and specialized care.

·       Specialist consultations: Patients may require consultations with medical specialists such as cardiologists, neurologists, or oncologists, depending on their medical condition.

·       Emergency care: In the event of a medical emergency, Tiva Family 3 Health Scheme covers the cost of emergency.

·        Tiva has a network of pharmacies throughout the entire country, which are located in various street locations. This program specifically covers medication benefits that are within the outpatients’ limit.

·        Each individual with Tiva Family 3 Health Scheme package has access to medication benefits as explained above.

·       The outpatient services component offers a wide range of diagnostic tests such as blood tests, X-rays, Ultrasounds, and ECGs, laboratory services such as blood and urine analysis, basic medical procedures such as wound dressing, injections, and minor surgeries, as well as physiotherapy sessions for rehabilitation after injuries or surgeries.

·       TIVA AFYA FAMILY 3 SCHEME's coverage for examination and investigation includes pathology tests (such as tissue lab tests, blood tests, and urine tests) as well as basic imaging procedures like X-rays and PET scans for inpatient beneficiaries (subscribers).

·       Under the TIVA AFYA FAMILY 3 SCHEME, the coverage includes CT scans and MRI procedures if they are administered to a patient during their admission and a medical justification is provided.

The Tiva Family 3 Health Scheme offers comprehensive coverage for a wide range of surgical procedures, operation theatre costs, operation fees, it covers pre-operative consultations, post-operative care, rehabilitation services as required and anesthetics facilities. 

·        The Tiva Family 3 Health Scheme provides coverage for emergencies and accidents, as well as medical treatments, hospitalization, and operation procedures, ensuring comprehensive and affordable access to high-quality healthcare.

 

What is not covered:

  • Ambulance services related costs.
  • Any emergency transportation including air evacuation, cross border transportation is not included.

·       The Tiva Family 3 Health Scheme does not include coverage for dental care, such as routine dental examinations, cleanings, fillings, extractions, or any other dental treatments.

Pay $15/month /person for Tiva Dental Executive Plan

·       You can purchase Tiva Dental CARE EXECUTIVE PLAN to be included in your Tiva Family 3 Health Scheme.

·        All dental care services under the plan are covered when you add dental care plan

·       Surgeries and procedures: Scaling, polishing, root canal, basic extraction subject to dental is included

 The maternity care plan includes:

  • Imaging, medications and Antenatal care.
  • Delivery also is included and postnatal care of the mother and the new baby.

·        The TIVA MATERNITY CARE package includes Neonatal care, circumcision, and all other necessary procedures.

  •  Waiting time is 4 months.

The TIVA MATERNITY CARE plan offers a comprehensive range of services to support expectant mothers and their babies throughout the pregnancy and after delivery. This plan covers antenatal care, imaging, medications, delivery, and postnatal care for both the mother and the baby. Additionally, the package includes neonatal care, circumcision, and all other necessary procedures to ensure the well-being of the newborn.

    Requirements for Your Insurance ID Card and Dependents' Identification.

    After activating your health insurance as the policyholder, you and your dependents have multiple options for registration. The quickest and most convenient way is to register through your Tiva Health account on https://Tiva.co.tz or using the Tiva Health Tanzania App. The process involves scanning your ID, taking a photo, and submitting your fingerprints (if using the App). Alternatively, you can visit any hospital or pharmacy within our network or any Tiva shop in your neighborhood where the "Tiva is Available Here" banner is displayed to obtain your insurance ID card. Each beneficiary (if multiple) can also collect their Tiva Health ID card from any Tiva shop, pharmacy, or hospital at their convenience.

    Note:

    In order for you and each of your dependents to get registered, the following are needed:

            National Identification Authority Card (NIDA CARD) or a passport or any other government-issued identification.

            Insurance account number and secret dependent code (for both principal and dependents), which were provided to you upon activation of your health insurance package.


    No mobile Money Registration is required:

    Your dependents do not need a registered Mobile Money number to receive the insurance or activate – just any mobile registered number is enough.

    ·       The number your beneficiary receives insurance at is the primary number.

    ·       Before activating the insurance package, the principal policyholder has the option to transfer the insurance credit to another mobile number or family member. However, once the package is activated under a specific number, it cannot be transferred or changed to another package.
